How do I request credit & background checks from applicants?

There are two options to screen potential tenants using Rentler. You can either turn on Rentler Applications (which automatically include a credit and background screening) and let tenants apply right from your listing, or you can request a credit and background screening from individual tenants. When tenants complete a credit and background screening as part of their Rentler Application, the full results will be visible to landlords once they log into Rentler, under both ‘Applications’ and ‘Screenings’.

I. Automatically request screenings

When you create a listing or activate a listing, you will have the option to automatically require screenings by switching the toggle next to Accepting Rentler Applications to 'Yes'. This means that every person who submits an application through your listing will be sending you their Rentler Application & screening information.

II. Request a screening manually

If you need to request a screening, click on 'Request Screening' and enter a tenant's information including first name, last name, and email address. 

Fill out the potential tenant's information and click [Submit]. This is where you will be given the option to either have each applicant pay the credit & background check fee or to pay it on their behalf.

Your potential tenant will be notified by email that they have a screening request. They will then be able to log in on and accept or reject the credit & background screening request.
