The "Error! Invalid Address!" notification occurs when a primary address database cannot verify the entered location. This is most common with new construction, recent subdivisions, or unit re-numbering.
1. Verify your address with Google
Our system relies on standardized mapping data. If your address is correct but still failing, the first step is to ensure it matches Google Maps exactly.
Go to Google Maps.
Search for your address.
If it appears: Copy the address exactly as Google displays it (including apartment/suite numbers) and paste it into Rentler.
If it doesn't appear: You will need to "Suggest an edit" to Google to have the address recognized (see below).
2. How to add a missing address to Google
If you are living in a new development, the street or house number might not be in Google's database yet. Here is how you can validate it:
Open Google Maps on your computer or mobile device.
Click the Menu (three horizontal lines) or your profile icon.
Select Edit the map > Fix an address (or "Missing address").
Move the map pin to the exact center of your building.
Enter the address information accurately.
Click Submit.
Note: Google typically reviews these requests within 24β48 hours, though it can sometimes take longer for new construction. Once Google recognizes the address, Rentler's system will be able to verify it much more easily.
3. Check for common formatting issues
Sometimes the error is simply a formatting mismatch. Try these quick fixes:
Abbreviations: Use "St" instead of "Street" or "Ave" instead of "Avenue" (or vice versa).
Unit Numbers: Place your apartment or suite number in the "Unit/Suite" field rather than the main address line.
Zip Codes: Ensure you are using the correct 5-digit Zip Code for that specific block.
Still having trouble?
If your address is visible on Google Maps but you still receive the "Invalid Address" error, our support team can help you manually override the verification.
