Why do you charge service fees?

Service Fees for Rent Payments Paid by Tenants

Written by Daisy

Rentler charges a service fee for online payments in order to cover our costs, which allows us to provide a secure and reliable network. The service fee is collected for the use of our software, and services, and to make several different payment options available to your tenant(s).

The service fee amount that tenants are charged depends on how they pay online:

Bank Account (ACH): When they pay rent directly from a bank account using their routing and account number, there is a flat fee of $1.95.

Debit or Credit Card: Many people choose to pay rent with a credit card to collect the points that are offered by their financial institution. If they use a debit or credit card to pay rent, there is a 3.5% + $0.30 service fee. That means 3.5% of their total rent payment plus $0.30 will be added on as a fee each time they pay rent online.
