How do I turn on credit reporting?
We’ve collaborated with the three major credit bureaus to allow tenants the option to have rent payments reported to help build their credit history. Once the tenant enrolls, rental payment data (including missed or late payments) will be reported to Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion. These reports are used by banks, financing companies, and more to determine a consumer’s eligibility for loans, credit accounts, and various other account types. Here’s how tenants can enroll:
- The landlord will invite the tenant to pay rent through Rentler then once the invitation is accepted, they will have the option to enroll in Rent Reporting
- The tenant will also have the option to enroll in Rent Reporting at any time by clicking the “Enroll” button on their payment detail page.
- After a tenant enrolls, their rental payment history will automatically be reported each month to Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax.
Note: To turn off credit reporting, a tenant can click 'Manage' on their payment detail page and then click ‘Cancel’.
