How much does a credit & background check cost?

A credit & background check is included in a Rentler Application, which costs tenants $45 for 30 days of use. The subscription fee is non-refundable, but there are no set-up fees or any hidden costs. If you would like to request a single screening from an applicant, you can do that from the Screenings tab in your landlord dashboard. The fee is $45, and you choose who pays.

Who pays for the screening?

The landlord is able to request a credit & background check from each applicant. A landlord can choose to either have each applicant pay for the screening - or- he/she can opt to pay for the screening on behalf of each applicant.

When is a charge incurred?

If the landlord has decided to have applicants pay for their own screenings, the charge is incurred after each applicant has completed the application request, entered their information, and successfully passed their identity authentication online. 

If the landlord has decided to pay for the screening on behalf of the applicants, the charge is incurred immediately upon request of the background check. Catch us on live chat on or call us at 1-801-674-8587 if you have any questions about this process.
