Are payments made through Rentler secure?
Yes. Here's why:
We use 256-bit SSL encryption and all user, payment, and transaction information is stored behind firewalls with constant monitoring. A 256-bit encryption (for those who aren't exactly developers) is a very secure way to encrypt data and is often used for financial, military or government-owned data.
Plus, all credit card and account information is stored in PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) compliant network. In other words, we use the same technology as your bank, so you know your information is safe and secure.
In order to use Payments, landlords will be asked to provide personally identifiable information (including date of birth and social security number) to properly verify their identity and mitigate fraud. This is done through a partnership with Stripe to deliver fast and secure payment processing services.
As always, we do not store or use this information for any other purpose than preventing fraud.
