Are payments made through Rentler secure?

Yes. Here's why:

We use 256-bit SSL encryption and all user, payment, and transaction information is stored behind firewalls with constant monitoring. A 256-bit encryption (for those who aren't exactly developers) is a very secure way to encrypt data and is often used for financial, military or government-owned data.

Plus, all credit card and account information is stored in PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard)  compliant network. In other words, we use the same technology as your bank, so you know your information is safe and secure.

In order to use Payments, both landlords and tenants will be asked to provide personally identifiable information (including date of birth and social security number) to properly verify their identity and mitigate fraud. This is done through a partnership with Stripe to deliver fast and secure payment processing services. 

Additionally, if landlords and tenants have not used our system before they will be asked to complete a secondary ID verification through Experian and answer identity authentication questions. Users are required to ID verify yearly or after a period of extended inactivity.

As always, we do not store or use this information for any other purpose than preventing fraud.
